Let’s assume that you do not have a digital product to sell and want to create your own ebook to sell online.

Where do you begin?

Pull out 3 sheets of paper.

On the first sheet enter the numbers 1, on the second sheet, number 2 and the third sheet, number 3.

At the top of each numbered sheet enter the following:

1. Things I enjoy doing.
2. Jobs that I have had.
3. Specific skills that I have.

Each of those titles, list everything that you can think of that applies to that particular phrase.  Don’t spend a lot of time and enter the first things that comes to mind.

Some examples might be:

1. Things I enjoy doing:

• gardening (vegetables or flowers)
• sewing (what do you sew?)
• sports (tennis, soccer, etc. be specific)
• going to the movies (what kind of movies?)

2. Jobs that I have had:

• delivering newspapers
• waiter or waitressing
• delivery person
• admin assistant
• sales clerk
• truck driver
• manufacturing
• sales rep
• volunteer worker

3. Skills that I have:

• mechanical aptitude
• computer skills
• quick learner
• communication skills
• good cook
• common sense
• self-reliant

Set aside your lists for at least 24 hours.  During that time, if you think of anything else that needs to be listed on the pages, go ahead and do that, but otherwise let them sit for at least a day.

Let me emphasize the importance of not trying to cram all this activity into one session.  Merely taking the time to create these lists jump starts the subconscious mind to begin activating memories.  This is why I mentioned to go ahead and add to the lists over the next 24 hours.  It will happen.  You can’t stop it.

Ok , after 24 hours go ahead and pull out the Number One List (things I enjoy doing).  Your next exercise is to prioritize the list.  Take some time to really study what you have listed there then rank the list numerically with Number 1 being the highest priority, Number 2 the second highest and so on.  When you begin to write, let it come naturally and don’t dwell too long on an item.

Now set that list aside and pull out Number 2 – Jobs That I Have Had.  Do the same as you did with the first list, ranking the jobs by the one you enjoyed most – Number 1 and so on.  When you have that list prioritized, move on.

Next pull out the Number 3 list and do the same, prioritizing your greatest strengths beginning with Number 1 and so forth.

Now, before putting the lists away for another 24 hours, you need to take three new sheets of paper.  At the top of Number 1, again write Things I Enjoy doing.  Beneath that, write the first three items in order of priority that you listed on the first sheet.

Do the same for each additional list.  You should now have three NEW lists with the appropriate heading and listing the top three by priority for each category.

What we are doing is getting the information locked in your head, down on paper in a cognitive format so that you can begin to take action.

Study these new lists and see if you find similarities among them.  Look for any consistency and make notes about it.

Wait your 24 hours.

Now take out each of your lists and create three new ones. At the top of three new sheets, write the categories again, i.e. Things I Enjoy doing, and so on.

Take your three prioritized ranking lists and write each of them on the appropriate page, leaving about a third of the sheet below each one so that you have something like this:

1. Sheet One – Things I Enjoy Doing:

• Gardening
• Sports
• Travel

2. Sheet Two – Jobs I Have Had:

• Volunteer Worker
• Gardening
• Sales Clerk

3. Sheet Three – Skills That I Have:

• Quick Learner
• Communication Skills
• Computer Skills

Now take a very good look at your three sheets of paper.  You have the three sheets and each sheet reflects your priorities. Taking each of these priorities ask yourself “WHY” you ranked them the way you did?  List all the reasons why beneath each item.

Up to this point, you have quite a set of information about yourself.  You know three different things that you really like to do.  You have a list of the three jobs that you have had and enjoyed working at them.  Finally, you have a list of your top three skills.  Now it’s time to begin some market research.

Exposing the Myths About Niche Selection

One of the absolute most prolific pieces of advice for prospective affiliates is to work within their passions-to find their niche market in an area of personal interest and stay with it. While there is a place for niche marketing in affiliate marketing, it is not what you have been led to believe that it is. For sure, “work within your personal niche” is one of the worst pieces of advice given to new entrepreneurs, and the cause of multitudes of affiliate failures.

Do what interests you

Do what interests you; find your niche; do what you are passionate about; sell the products that interest you the most…
These are the pieces of advice that entrepreneurs are told time and again. And there is some basis to this thought, some method behind this madness.

The overall belief is that if you choose to do business in an area or ‘niche’ that you are deeply interested in, that passion will shine through and you will make sales almost accidentally. The feeling is that by selling products or working within your most favorite niche you will have a built-in sense of urgency and desire that will compel you to work on your business and to succeed.

Moreover, by working within a niche category of personal interest you will come prepared. That is, you will come armed with bucket loads of knowledge and experiences with various products so that you don’t have to ‘waste time’ getting up to speed. You’ll already know the products that deserve promotion. And you’ll know all the promotional background information almost off the top of your head.

The belief is that if you focus on promoting products that are in some way of interest to you, you can easily take care of business. You can construct websites that will sell the products; you can write articles to submit to directories and gain links back to you, the niche expert; you can build blog upon blog and never run out of something great to say about your favorite little widget that so transformed your life as a widget collector (whether you should or not, is another matter, and we’ll discuss that later).

Here’s the thing about this-none of it is untrue. It is easier to put yourself behind a product you already know. It is easier to hit the ground running when you are already well-versed in matters. It is easier to connect with visitors and readers who are more like you. So why, then, is it a myth to believe that you should focus first and foremost on your personal-interest niche as an affiliate marketers? Why can’t that mean virtually automatic sales and commissions?

What’s wrong with passion?

The reasoning against personal niche concentration is more simplistic than you might think. And in point of fact, there are some exceptions to the rule, which we can touch upon after you understand why the myth in general is a myth.

Then cut to the chase already, right? What’s wrong with doing something you are passionate about?

There is nothing truly wrong with it. But there is something unprofitable about it in an overwhelmingly large percentage of cases. What is unprofitable about this mindset is that it is just too limiting. By choosing your business and products based on one personal preference, you lose the freedom of choice. And that freedom is important, because it is what allows you to give buyers what they want, and saddles you with a limited number of affiliate product options, most of the time in a niche that isn’t seeing very high demand.

Very simply, unless your niche interest happens to be in products or subject areas that coincide with what people are ready to buy, it does not come with the most essential element of affiliate marketing success-built-in customers.

Instead of focusing on the niche products, you need to focus on the products that can and do sell. At least if you want to be one of the Super Affiliates in internet marketing you do. If you want to make the big commission checks and the easy, sell-themselves-while-I’m-in-the-tropics kind of sales the Big Dogs do, you have to think less about what you want to talk about and more about what customers want to hear.

The other factor you must consider is sustainability. When you do choose a niche, choose one with staying power. Choose one that can be recycled over and over-that will continue to elicit demand again and again. That will lend itself to up-selling with other products and/or upgrades. And while you do that, focus on how you sell, not only what you sell, so that you can re-use what you learn. That way, you can continue to be a Super affiliate success well into the future (say, to retirement?) even as products and affiliate programs come and go.

If by now you are concerned and thinking, “Great. Now I just don’t know what to sell, and I thought I had it all figured out…” don’t worry. This article is here to re-train you and teach you to sell and make easy money the way the Super Affiliates do. Not the way the people making trickles and dabs of affiliate money do, the way the people living off affiliate commissions do. And to that end, we will certainly clarify for you how to identify the products that will sell. In fact, we’ll do that shortly. But first, let’s take away another fear.

But I’m no expert

Okay, so now that we’ve dismissed the thought of selling niche products that you like, and taken away your automatic level of comfort with your product, we need to talk about how to correct that problem for you, yes?
It is a lot easier to sell something you know and love, surely. It is easier-at least in the beginning-to build marketing and pre-sales around a product you have an interest in; meaning, if you are already an expert in “widgetta obscura” you could probably sit down and in one afternoon draft a complete website full of content on the matter. And if you choose another product, say an in-demand high seller that you know next to nothing about, you’ll have to do some research before you can belt out that content. You’ll have to become an expert all over again.

There. You’ve just been given the answer. Did you see it? Become an expert. Just as you were not born an expert in widgets, just as you became an expert through study and use, you can do the same thing for any product that with excellent consumer demand.

All that it takes to become an expert is some time spent reading, and eventually using your products. You can become an authority. You can become whatever type of expert you want to be. And trust us when we say that you want to be the expert who knows the products with ready-to-buy consumers.

That being said, there is something more to consider-you don’t really need to be an expert to be an effective affiliate! By default it is quite likely you’ll become one over time, but in the meantime all you need to do is let your parent affiliate program do the work for you! All the information and ordering and purchasing tools are already there for you. Your job is just to get your people to them so that they can buy. And believe us when we say that if you target the right markets, they’re likely to come with plenty of information anyway!

The exceptions to the rule

We did say there would be exceptions to the rule of choosing a niche that interests you. That exception is very simple, and we won’t spend a lot of time on it here.

The exception to the rule is that if you happen to love a product that people are clambering to buy, go for it! Jump in now while the getting is good. Consider yourself lucky.

The other exception is your personal interest. If you feel a burning desire to promote a product within your niche to suit your own personal fancy, go for that, too! There are no rules to what you can and cannot sell. You can be an internet marketer of a multitude of vastly different products in all sorts of niches. In fact, that’s probably a good idea. There is no one perfect niche, there are many. Open up your options, do your fanciful thing on the side, but plan to make your money the way the Super Affiliates do-by selling the right products that require the least amount of effort on their part.

Fine. You can accept that you can’t make it big selling your widgets to the five other people who love widgets. You accept that you have to look for the product that is in demand, with buyers ready to click that “buy” button. So how do you know which products to choose?

This is where your affiliate tools come in. This is where targeted product research comes in. This is also where SEO and keyword research starts to come into the picture, but the details of each of those will come in their due time, in their own, dedicated chapters.

Spotting the sellers                          

What you need to do to spot a moneymaker is find out what is selling and what is not. Go to affiliate sites like Click Bank and Commission Junction. Utilize the marketplace tools there and find out what products are performing-which products other affiliates are making money with. Start there, but go further. Consider the whole picture before you decide on the right affiliate products for you.

Go to these sites, and look at the market reports. Don’t just start with a top keyword search; find out what is selling-not just what is getting traffic hits. Compare products in your chosen category against each other. See which products are outperforming the others, and then go from there. Build your website and your affiliate program around that product. Then use your keyword analysis in the most productive way (as we’ll show you).

Here’s the trick, though. You don’t want to just grab the first products you see with the highest traffic generations. Traffic in and of itself means very little. You want the products that are actually converting-that are turning into sales. So even if a products gets thousands of hits a day, but only a couple of those hits convert to purchases, it is probably not the product that will generate the kind of easy, hands-off sales you want. A product with only a hundred (or fewer) hits per day that converts at a much higher rate would actually do much better. It’s the conversion and sales that you need to know, not just the traffic generated by searches.

What sells and what doesn’t

Sometimes these statistics are things that you can find through the marketplace tools on affiliate lead sites. Not always, though, and some sites are better at it than others, so you need to look at the proven factors that are more likely to result in sales. The trick to this is really in knowing a bit about the psychology of buyers, and then using that to guide your efforts at SEO and marketing (but more on that later…).

First off understand that there are basically only two types of buyers of interest to you; they are

• Buyers who are researching products, and
• Buyers who need a product (or feel they need a product) because they need a solution to a problem (or think buying solves a problem-sometimes the problem is simple want)

Are there other types of traffic-generators out there? Sure. But most of them are not buyers who are ready or nearly ready to buy.

So that kind of traffic is essentially fluff. It looks good on your site meter, but it doesn’t make you money. So it’s not worth your time and effort.
This is where keyword research really comes into play. Effective keyword research will target those buyers ready to buy, rather than those just looking around. We’ll break that down in later chapters.

It may seem as though we’ve gotten a bit away from the issue of niche selection. Really, though, it’s all intertwined. To choose your niche-since you’re not choosing on interest alone-you will need to know how to choose the niches that can perform. You need to know how to spot the moneymakers, using your market tools.

Now that you know your niche, we can start setting up your business. We can go on to formulating a game plan and carving out your piece of the market action.

The best place to find niche markets is to begin by looking for general markets that are popular. Since many people enjoy gardening, you could start your research by looking up how many gardening books there are on websites like Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com. You will probably find thousands of result pages. This means you are on the right track and the next step is to narrow down your search.

By continually narrowing your search, you will begin to find smaller markets and eventually niche markets. There is a danger of becoming too narrow and finding groups that are not large enough to profit from, so be sure that you find groups that are small, but growing in popularity or who have a steady level of participants.

You can measure the popularity of a group by conducting web searches. Typical niche markets that are profitable usually have between 10,000 and 50,000 results on search engines. Any larger, and you may have more competition from other businesses. Any smaller, and their may not be as much interest in your product.

After narrowing down possible niche markets in gardening, you may have come up with rose gardens, which can be narrowed down to specific types of roses used in rose gardens. Your niche may be groups that enjoy planting specific types of roses and who need more information on how to do this in different types of soil, climates, and other conditions.

Incidentally, along the way, you may also discover the types of products you can sell to these niche markets. A gardening ebook about a specific type of rose could be very profitable as long as you sell it to the right groups of people.
Other places to find niche markets include:

• Newspapers, magazines, trade publications, ezines, newsletters, blogs
• Advertisement and classified ad sections in newspapers and magazines
• Online classified ad sites like Craigslist.com
• Online auction sites like ebay
• Bookstores, online book dealers
• Retail stores
• Conversations with family and friends

As you can see, generating ideas is the easy part. Conducting careful research to find specific niche markets takes the most time. But this is time well-spent because once you find a few niche markets; you can begin finding those interested in your product without having to compete with other businesses or with the Internet in general.

List of a variety of niche markets

It is important to keep in mind that if you decide to pursue niche markets, you will have to put in the time to research possible markets to determine which ones will yield the most profits. No two markets are the same, so your potential income will vary.

In simple terms, a niche market is a small group of consumers who are interested in hobbies, sports, games, music, and other pastimes that may or may not be considered mainstream.

A good example is a hobby such as gardening. While there are many people who garden, there are those who are more interested in certain types of flowers or vegetable gardening.

When searching for a niche market within the gardening community, you will have to conduct research and find out more about gardening and types of gardening to see if there are any areas that are not catered to online, but are sought after by a group that is large enough to be profitable.

A good niche market contains the following attributes:

• It has enough people who are willing to spend money to get the information they need
• Its not overrun by too many other businesses trying to cater to the group at the same time
• The Market Group contains enough people who will sign up for additional information about your servicesz
• Its trendy, but not too trendy, (A trendy niche market will be around for at least six months)

While a niche market doesn’t have to contain all of these attributes for you to be successful in selling a product appropriate for that group, it should be a group that is hungry for information, but is not finding this information in too many places online.

You must never price your plr product, or with any types of rights too low and never too high. Here are a few criteria to price your product:

• Number of pages
• Quality of content
• Your ‘name’ in your area of expertise
• Offering in terms of a package deal (e.g. 4 books bundled together for a resell rights package)
• The number of bonuses you are offering along with the main product
• Whether you are giving basic Resell Rights or Master resell rights, or Private Label Rights
  

Can it Really be done?

The first question that comes to mind for people thinking about making money with passive income from affiliate partnerships and internet marketing is this: Can Internet Marketing a.k.a Affiliate Marketing really be done?

The short answer-yes. It can. It is. It is done every day. Every day, the Super Affiliates are making big money doing very little. That’s not to say they never put work in ever. We’ll start with the most expendable reason-money. Why invest your hard-earned cash into building a business as an internet marketer? Quite simply, because building an affiliate business is one of the absolute least expensive businesses you could be in. In fact, it doesn’t have to cost you anything at all. Being an affiliate is free. All you have to do is sign up or register with the product provider and you’re in!

But what about websites and hosting costs? Those can be had for free as well. And should you choose to upgrade to a more flexible and higher quality site, you can do that for very little money (and this you really should do). Even if you’re not a programmer, or know nothing at all about creating websites, coding, and everything behind the scenes of website building, you can have a website with user-friendly (read, no technological expertise needed) templates for fewer than ten dollars per month. That is no lie. These sites are out there. A couple of popular ones that come to mind are 1and1.com and HostGator.com, but there are many others, and many newcomers looking to serve this in-demand market, too (some that are even hosting affiliate programs!).

Time

People probably complain most about a lack of money when starting a new business; lack of time is the next most common complaint that would-be Super or the Big Dog affiliates use to reason against committing to affiliate businesses. You just don’t have the time to dedicate to starting a business from scratch. Well maybe not if you’re re-inventing the wheel, but affiliate marketing doesn’t work that way.

There are a myriad of tools available for affiliates. Know the tools to use that will help you make money, and you severely reduce the amount of time needed to get your new venture up and running. But we get ahead of ourselves. Because the point moreover is that the companies who want you to be their affiliates have done most of the work for you. They’ve written the ads, crafted the code, designed the graphics, and in many cases built complete affiliate websites. All you have to do is find somewhere to host them so that people can find your links and click through to buy from your ads so that you get a percentage of those sales. All you have to do is put the right product at the right place at the right time. Of course, there are ways to do this so that sales are made, and that is really what this book is about. But rest assured that you can make the time to build a successful affiliate business. You can do it an hour at a time or days at a time. Whatever time you can allocate is time that will bring you income through affiliate sales.

Effort

We won’t kid you. You do have to put in some effort in order to enjoy easy money through internet sales. You won’t be putting in as much effort, say, as the guy who is hand-weaving organic wool blankets and then trying to sell them on the web, but you will have to put some real, focused effort into being an affiliate—at first.

Much of the time and effort that is required is only in the beginning. Once you’ve built your platform and learned the basics, you need only to maintain. So it may take twenty hours of solid work (an hour at a time or a day at a time) to get you there, but then all you have to do is maintain. Once you’ve hit the level of maintenance, that’s where you can really relax. Sit back, enjoy yourself, and be lazy like the Big Dogs. Dedicate a few hours a week to maintaining the income stream and traffic that you’ve gained, and cash your affiliate checks as they come rolling in.

Flexibility

What does every dog want from life? The freedom to have a good time. What is freedom? Today, freedom is usually having the flexibility to run your job around your life, not have your life run around your job. That is something you definitely can do as a Big Dog affiliate. There’s no greater level of flexibility than a business that runs itself. And that is the beauty of the internet. It’s why everyone wants to be in an e-business. Because it’s never off, and the potential for earnings are always on; and you can attend to it when you want, not when a boss or a client demands.

Income Potential

The income potential of affiliate marketing is virtually limitless. The more time, effort, and resources you want to put into it, the more money you can make with it. But better yet, you can make the big money without too much of that. Why else be in this business? Isn’t it about the easy money? The big sell and big checks for short hours? It certainly is. When you learn how the Big Dogs do it, you can be making the bigger, better, easier bucks, too. And then if you’re feeling energetic, you can go for more. That also requires knowing the right tools and right products that you personally can utilize to make money on the web. That requires reading the rest of this book and finding out what those are.

• Affiliate marketing is a low-cost (possibly no-cost) business to be in
• Affiliate marketing requires limited effort, taking up limited amounts of your time

What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is nothing more than selling the products or services of somebody else in return for a percentage of the sales proceeds as a commission.

It is a little like working as a commission only salesman for a real- world business. Just as would happen in this real-world scenario, if you make no sales, then you do not get paid. Having said that, there are many advantages to selling products as an affiliate for the original creator:

• You do not need to create your own product (!).
• You do not need to carry inventory or worry about delivery.
• You do not need your own merchant account to accept payments.

All you need to do is find a product and promote it successfully, and then cash your ‘paychecks’ when they arrive. As you will discover while reading this book, there are thousands of merchants looking for affiliates to sell products for them.

Also, the types of products or services that are available to be sold by affiliates vary enormously, as do the commission rates that are paid by the product creators.

Depending upon the product, you will sometimes see businesses offering commission rates as high as 75%, whilst at the other extreme you will see percentages as low as 4% or 5% quoted.

However, viewed on their own, these figures mean little or nothing. I would much rather earn 5% of $10,000 than 75% of $50! In other words, you must look at both the percentage commission rate quoted and the product price to form a complete picture of whether a particular product offers you an attractive deal as an affiliate.

Being digital isn’t everything

I have never sat down and counted the exact number of affiliate marketing ‘how to’ manuals and guidebooks on the market, but I would bet that there are probably thousands of them available. However, the majority of guides about how you can start making money on the internet by selling as an affiliate follow much the same well trodden path.

Central to this basic online affiliate marketing model is that you should focus all your efforts on selling digital products, such as software programs, e-books, special reports, online training courses and so on.

Undoubtedly, there are reasons for this specific focus, and some that are most commonly put forward to justify this position do have some substance.

• Such products are capable of being delivered instantly, and this is certainly an advantage for certain types of consumers.

• There is no question of additional costs for packing or shipping with a digital product, and once again this will appeal to a certain type of consumer.

• Most importantly for you as an affiliate marketer, the major advantage of selling digital products is that you will get paid extremely quickly for any successful sales.

There are, however, several very important but nevertheless widely ignored disadvantages to selling digital products. These disadvantages increasingly lead me to believe that most affiliate marketers are being misled by the common wisdom.

It is not too difficult to understand why this happens. Many leading online business experts make a significant proportion of their income by selling ‘how-to’ manuals to would-be affiliate marketers. It probably pays such people to ensure that new affiliate marketers are not instantly successful, because if that were to happen, they clearly would not want to buy any more ‘how to’ manuals.

To understand the disadvantages, let us forget digital products for one moment and take a look at the non-digital ‘real world’.

Looking beyond the internet

Whilst an ever-increasing number of people are working or spending their leisure time online, there is still a high proportion of the global population who do not have access to the internet. In addition, of those who do have access to the net, a significant proportion is either unwilling or unable to directly purchase products or services online.

In other words, there is a massive global market that people who promote only digital products online can never make a successful sale to.

Added to this is the fact that digital products of themselves are limited by their own format. For example, if someone wants to buy an e-book that teaches them 50 great ways of making fresh orange juice at home, then of course this can be delivered digitally. If, however, they just want to buy the orange juice itself, or the machine to make it, then this clearly cannot be delivered in the same way.

By promoting or selling only digital products, a significant market of people who are more interested in buying a real product or service is being ignored.

The final and most important point that is widely overlooked by most of the advocates of promoting digital products as an affiliate is competition in the marketplace.

I have no exact figures, but I would suspect that over 90% of new (and perhaps even existing) affiliate marketers put all of their efforts into selling digital products.

Whilst the internet marketplace is undoubtedly growing bigger every day, nevertheless this means that there are ever increasing numbers of affiliates who are pushing the same digital products and services.

This can be seen most clearly when one of the big-name ‘gurus’ releases their latest product. Generally, such a launch will be a mega-event, and you will inevitably see details of it all over the internet.

Every time you see such details on a website or blog, you know that it is yet another affiliate for the product who is fighting for their own
share of the market.

Every one of these affiliates is in competition with each other for business. A customer will only ever buy this particular product once. In other words, there can only be one successful affiliate who makes the sale of this particular product to each customer.

Backing up a little, consider the person who is selling the e-book listing 50 great ways of making fresh orange juice at home. How many times are you going to buy this book? Only once, right?

If, however, you decide that you have neither the time nor the patience to make your own juice, and therefore buy the finished product, how often are you going to purchase this?

Once or twice a week every week is the answer. In other words, because orange juice is a consumable product, you will become a regular customer rather than a one-off buyer.

Whilst I can see that there are advantages to selling digital products, the fact is that the overwhelming majority of new affiliate marketers start off trying to do the same thing, and fail to do so successfully for all of the reasons I have highlighted above.

Affiliate marketing is a superb business model, both for the original product creator and for any affiliate who is successful in selling the product or service concerned.

PLR Sales Letters and PLR landing pages are one of the most important components you must utilize when you are setting up your profit funnels.

Here are the best ways you can utilize them:

• You can save a tremendous amount of time and money by filling in your name and uploading your payment processor and upload them immediately.
• You can even add your own products by editing the ready made sales letter and offer bonuses to entice buyers to make a purchase.
• Use the PLR sales letters as swipe files for new sales letters that you plan to write for yourself – this is very useful when you are a budding copywriter and you want to learn from the best!
• Landing pages will effectively help you capture leads and build your list quickly.
• Combine your PLR landing pages with special reports (See chapter above) and autoresponder E-courses, you will be able to create a sales funnel that will turn the casual prospect into a paying customer.
• Use PLR landing pages to lead your prospects to thank you pages that you can use to monetize additional affiliate sales (More on how to utilize thank you pages in the next chapter).
• You can also use the PLR landing page to direct your prospects immediately to your sales letter (Use them hand in hand).

EBooks are very important. Most PLR sites provide EBooks as the bread and butter of the entire business model.

Here are some of the best strategies on how to utilize PLR EBooks:

• Put your name on the products as the author – This is the most
  obvious benefit of them all. Private Label Rights allow you to claim
  authorship to the E-book and you can use it to build your name/brand
  or sell it.

• Edit the contents – You can change the titles, edit the product
  contents, insert your affiliate links, and/or paste your own
  advertisements into the products. These are just some ways to
  monetize in addition to the profits you are making from selling the EBook.

• You can take the content in the book and arrange them into your very
  own articles (more about monetizing articles in the subsequent chapters).

• On the other hand, you can also take a few PLR EBooks and combine
  them together to create one HUGE mega EBook and sell them for profits.

• You can shorten the EBook by taking out the key points and turn it into
  a special report that you can use either as a teaser to get people to buy
  your EBook or you can use it to capture leads.

• Depending on the terms and conditions, you can use this book and
  give it away as a bonus to products you are already selling.

• You can also offer additional rights to your E-book that will enhance the perceive value (e.g. basic resell rights, master resell rights or even rebranding rights).

  These are just some examples that you can use to monetize E-books
  because you can use your imagination to come up with additional ideas how to market yourself with PLR E-books.

You can make quite a profit with private label rights content if you

know what you’re doing. You need to make sure, however, that you
and the original creator of the content are both on the “same page” so
to speak, when it comes to the rights you are purchasing. You may be
thinking one thing and he or she may be thinking another, so get this
hammered out right away, before you buy.

You can get yourself into a “fine mess” in the immortal words of Stan
Laurel, if you don’t know what you’re buying. You start messing
around with someone’s content to which you don’t own the rights, and
you may be looking for trouble. If possible, get a contract together so
that you and the seller have no misunderstandings when it comes to
exactly what rights are being sold.

When it comes to buying rights to content, there are basically two
different types of rights that can be purchased: Exclusive and Non
Exclusive.
Exclusive Rights. This is really what you want. If you purchase
exclusive rights to the private label content, you become the sole
owner. This means that you can sell it as is, you can re-write it or
have someone else re-write and sell it again. These type of rights are
generally more expensive than non-exclusive rights.
Non Exclusive Rights. This means that the seller can also sell this
product to others. You are allowed to use it, in most cases – as is – on
your website. You and 10 million other people. Non Exclusive Rights,
however, can work for someone who is just starting out, has a limited
budget, and wants to draw people to their website.

Most sellers would prefer to retain rights to their product and sell it as
many times as possible to a bunch of different people. They would
also prefer to have their name on the product and not have anything in
the content changed.

Other sellers are more realistic and realize that there are millions of
other people writing the same type of content who are selling it
cheaper and they are better off making money where they can get it.
They are more than happy to sell exclusive content to you as long as
you pay them.

Unless otherwise specified, it is assumed that content sold online is
sold as exclusive content. If a seller wants incorporate rules as to the
sale of his or her content, or wants to add restrictions, it is up to him
or her to specify the conditions of the transaction prior to the
transaction.

Many sellers produce very little content of good quality. They prefer to retain the rights and sell the content to as many people as possible.
They will most likely insist that you only have usage rights, or nonexclusive
rights. Sure, you can use the article on your website.

A wise seller who practices the above will allow you to make changes
in their content so that it has unique value and is not the same old
thing that is seen on several other websites. The seller will tell you to
use the content as you wish, but still retains the primary rights to the
content.

Some sellers can produce quite a bit of content but lack the focus and
abilities to make it truly outstanding. They are more inclined to sell
you full rights to the content and let you do whatever you want with it.
They are happy to be able to move on to the project and onto something else.
Before you decide to purchase any private label content, make sure of the following:

• What type of rights you are being offered;
• If you can change the content;
• If you can sell the content to other individuals;
• If you can put your name on the content as the author.

Not discovering these facts out prior to purchasing private label rights
can make the content you are purchasing from the creator useless.
The best type of private label content that you can hope to get is
unrestricted private label content. This means that you have exclusive
rights to the content, can change it and edit it as much as you want,
can put down your own name as the author if you so choose, and can
sell it to whomever you want. This is the best type of deal you can
hope to acquire when seeking private label rights content. This may
cost you a bit more money, but chances are that it will be well worth
it.

Every day, thousands of people from all over the world make the decision that they would like to start earning money from the internet.

Whilst the specific reason that people decide to try their hand at making money online is not especially relevant, there are some common features that people who decide to become involved in online business exhibit.

Not surprisingly, for the vast majority of people who decide that this seems like a good idea, it is also a very new idea. In other words, the people that we are talking about tend to have no established ‘bricks and mortar’ real-world business of their own. In effect, they want to earn money but have no way of doing so as yet.

Moreover, to most of these people, the idea that that you can earn money from the internet is a new concept that they had probably never considered before. The majority of new online entrepreneurs have no product or service of their own to sell. They are also likely to have very little money available to fund their new online business venture.

It is for these reasons that most people who approach online marketing for the first time will start their online money making adventure using affiliate marketing as their method of choice.

This is not to say, however, that it is only beginners who are trying to make money from affiliate marketing. There are some extremely experienced marketers who focus all of their efforts on affiliate marketing, and are very successful at doing so. These people are regular six-figure income earners and every single cent of their income is derived from affiliate marketing.
However, well over 95% of people that start out as affiliate marketers never make a brass nickel, and in the majority of cases, they actually manage to lose money.

There is clearly something going wrong for these people.
Some make the mistake of treating the exercise as a hobby, and by doing so almost inevitably consign themselves to being a failure. A hobby is something that you do when the mood takes you, and business is far more demanding than that.

If you have your own small business and sell a product to a customer who is not satisfied, you cannot address their complaints when it suits you. It does not matter whether your business operation is run mainly online or offline. In all business the customer is king. In other words, when the customer says ‘jump’, that is what you have to do.

Of course, marketing online is a business where you can work on a part-time basis and can do so from home. Nevertheless, whether you work one hour or ten hours every day in your online venture, you should still treat your business as a business.

In my experience, the biggest reason that most people fail is a lack of focus, and this is most commonly exhibited in their willingness to buy every new ‘magic formula’ product that they see.

They also buy every new manual that comes onto the market in an effort to discover the secrets that will make them a millionaire overnight.
The truth is that online business is no different from business as it has been practiced for hundreds of years. The only significant difference is that your ‘shop window’ is on the internet rather than being a high street store.

You still have to find the right customers and supply them with the products that they want or need, and if you can do that, your affiliate marketing business will be a success.
